LOUIS SCLAVIS & VINCENT COURTOIS

French top duo Louis Sclavis/Vincent Courtois shows that you don’t always have to depart from American roots when it comes to jazz. Starting out with fabulous technical skills, Sclavis chooses elements and procedures from the classical world, Breton and North African folklore and from this he forges his own precious jewel with an overwhelming intensity. Courtois, who is involved in many of Sclavis’ projects, is one of those cellists that refuses to acknowledge the limitations of his instrument: he is lyrical using his bow, percussive when he twangs his strings and with some electronics he can evoke unknown soundscapes.
