Forward-thinking jazz by alto saxophonist Logan Richardson, from his
Blue Note debut Shift. ‘Logan has a vision of sound and a strong
conception, a fantastic musician’ (Pat Metheny).

New York-based
alto saxophonist Logan Richardson grew up in Kansas City, where he moved
in-between jazz and classical music at a very early age. He played in
the symphony orchestra as well as in band by home town legends such as
Jimmy Heath. This is evident on his albums, alternating richly
orchestrated, narrative compositions with forward-thinking
improvisations. He also knows his way around rock and hip-hop together
with the NEXT Collective, a young super group whose repertory includes
songs by Jay Z, Kanye West and D’Angelo. On his first Blue Note album
Shift, Logan works with another star formation including Pat Metheny and
Jason Moran. Shift is also the name of Logan’s band, a loose collective
of fantastic musicians.
