ERIC VLOEIMANS TAKES ON LICKS & BRAINS

Eric Vloeimans brings an extraordinary big band to the BIMHUIS: Licks & Brains. This 18-piece band mixes jazz with a healthy dose of soul, funk and dance. Previous collaborators include named performers such as Benjamin Herman, Joseph Bowie (Defunkt) and remixers Kraak & Smaak. This concert is all about the compositions of master trumpeter Vloeimans, in special new arrangements, alongside tracks from the repertory of the big band. Licks & Brains is led by saxophonist, conductor and arranger Rolf Delfos.

‘Vloeimans plays crisp and self-assured, embodying the articulate melodicism of Clifford Brown plus many shades of Miles, without being imitative’ (JazzTimes).
