LEW TABACKIN, DON BRADEN & TRIO REIN DE GRAAFF
Lew Tabackin-tenor saxophone, flute, Don Braden-tenor saxophone, Rein de Graaff-piano, Marius Beets-bass, Eric Ineke-drums
For his series of concerts with prominent guest musicians, this time, Rein de Graaff invited two American tenor saxophonists. Lew Tabackin (1940) became generally known with the big band that he led with his wife Toshiko Akiyoshi. His tenor playing touches the style of Sonny Rollins: structured and spontaneous at the same time. Don Braden (1963) performed in groups of jazz heroes like Betty Carter, Wynton Marsalis, Freddy Hubbard and Roy Haynes. He produced twelve records under his own name and is also known, in the Netherlands, for his quartet with bassist Joris Teepe.
