Exciting, virtuoso Brazilian orchestra with brass and percussion, known for its collaboration with Joshua Redman and Gilbert Gil. Mix of Afro-Brazilian music with contemporary jazz.

The exciting Orkestra Rumpilezz brings to mind other Brazilian orchestras that have brought the Bimhuis down in recent years, such as Spok Frevo. The award-winning, virtuoso percussion and brass orchestra was founded by saxophonist, flutist, percussionist and arranger Letieres Leite. His Orkestra Rumpilezz combines Afro-Brazilian music from Bahia with contemporary jazz, and has collaborated with, among others, Joshua Redman, Gilberto Gil and Lenine. The current repertory contains Joshua Redman’s composition Mantra 5, which he has arranged especially for Rumpilezz.

This concert is a collaboration with the Moers Festival and the Nijmegen based festival Music Meeting. With the support of Air Europa.
