LEE KONITZ TRIO
Lee Konitz-alto saxophone, Ed Schuller-double bass, George Schuller-drums
Alto saxophonist Lee Konitz (Chicago, 1927), who’s career embellishes for over fifty five years of jazz history, used to be one of the rare few saxophonists that seemed to have escaped the dominating influence or Charlie Parker and managed to create his own style. He worked with Lennie Tristano, Stan Kenton, Miles Davis, Gerry Mulligan, Chet Baker and Bill Evans. Until today he leaves an intriguing heritage of recordings. In his own unique way he comes up with new and surprising variations on pieces that have been played many times before.
