Alto sax legend Lee Konitz is the special guest with the trio of double bassist Jeff Denson. Konitz set a standard in the 1940s and played with, among others, Miles Davis.

American alto saxophonist Lee Konitz has been active in jazz for nearly 70 years and he’s still being praised for his controlled, mature playing. He shone on Birth of the Cool by Miles Davis and many other albums, with countless musicians from the US as well as Europe. Currently Lee Konitz collaborates with double bassist Jeff Denson, nearly 50 years his junior.

After more than a decade as co-leader of the internationally acclaimed trio Minsarah, bassist Jeff Denson is forging into new territory with his trio that features Kari Ikonen on piano and Ronen Itzik on drums. This season they will perform with Lee Konitz as their special guest. Their recent album Jeff Denson Trio + Lee Konitz features lesser-known Konitz compositions and pieces by Lennie Tristano, and even contains singing, by Konitz as well as Denson.
