LEE KONITZ, ACK VAN ROOIJEN & TRIO REIN DE GRAAFF

Lee Konitz-alto saxophone, Ack van Rooijen-trumpet, Rein de Graaff-piano, Marius Beets-bass, Eric Ineke-drums

Alt saxophonist Lee Konitz (Chicago, 1927) who’s career covers about 55 years of jazz history, was one of the rare saxophonists who managed to stay outside the ruling influence of Charlie Parker in the 40’s and developed his own style. He always knows how to create new and surprising variations in songs that were played a thousand times before. Van Rooyen, one of the best bugle players in the world, peacefully unfolds his elegant variations with great warmth and clearness.
