Kruidkoek
Nick Feenstra alto sax, Tijmen Kooiker guitar, Reindert Kragt bass, Bram Knol drums
Kruidkoek is the ideal outlet for four friends who enjoy broadening their horizons. The essence is music but they’re also known to create their own YouTube (dance) videos, drag around selfmade lightboxes, collaborate with poets and star in their own theatre performances. Their mix of rock, jazz and soundtrack music has been dubbed GarageJazz, which contains influences of Zappa, Ploctones, Bowie, Nirvana, Tarantino and so much more.
Early 2020 sees the release of GarageJazz, the album, for which the band has collaborated with engineer Matthijs Kievit, who built a reputation with acts such as Klangstof, Kapok, Blaudzun and Luwten. The recordings were direct, often in one take, together in one room with the amps turned way up. Raw live energy, without too much cutting and pasting. This album makes clear that Kruidkoek is ready for the future.
