The Konrad Koselleck Big Band celebrates 13 years of being different, the ideal moment for this anniversary concert with highlights!
The Konrad Koselleck Big Band celebrates its 13th anniversary (13 years and 3 days to b precise, the first concert was on May 5, 2004)! On this lucky evening the band presents its anniversary concert at the Bimhuis with highlights from the repertory and many special guests. Every other month the big band performs at the Bimhuis on a Monday evening, in the tradition of the famous Monday Nights Live at the Village Vanguard.
Band leader Konrad Koselleck continues to find adventurous combinations of jazz, cabaret, musical, pop, rock, funk, Latin and even classical music. The repertoire ranges from Brecht and Weill to Nina Hagen and Rammstein, plus many new works by contemporary composers. In the past 13 years many guests have appeared with the band, including Ellen ten Damme, Nora Fischer, Freek de Jonge, Mathilde Santing, Claron McFadden, chansonniers, comic artists, filmmakers and radio and television presenters.
‘Sure, it’s as loud and impressive as a big band is supposed to be, but beyond that it’s a revelation to hear how serene this bunch of metal can become, how Koselleck makes use of all the dynamic possibilities of his ensemble’ (de Volkskrant).
The Bimhuis restaurant is open prior to the concert from 6.30 till 8.30PM (reservations via 020-7882158). After the concert, the Bimhuis Café is open (free entrance).
