The encounter between theatre maker Tjerk Ridder and band leader Konrad Koselleck has led to this multimedia performance about freedom.

This performance can be described as a symbolic and poetic journey. Together with his Belgian cart horse Elvi, theatre maker Tjerk Ridder travels to various places representing freedom and unfreedom. During his search for a personal meaning of freedom he meets all kinds of people.

Especially for his collaboration with the Konrad Koselleck Big Band, Tjerk traveled to Bielefeld, where band leader Konrad Koselleck grew up as the son of historian Reinhart Koselleck. This environment fueled Konrad’s artistic freedom, developing his approach to combine social and historical content with music. Konrad arranged songs that were important for his development, including the music his parents were dancing to around the time they met each other. Additionally, he has arranged songs written by Tjerk and inspired by freedom, especially for this concert.

The Bimhuis restaurant is open prior to the concert from 6.30 til 8.30PM (reservations via 020-7882158). After the concert, the Bimhuis Café is open (free entrance).
