An exuberant mix of jazz, folk and music from Asturias (northern Spain), by the Konrad Koselleck Big Band and Asturian singer Mapi Quintana.

The Konrad Koselleck is something else. Time and again band leader Koselleck finds new adventurous musical crossovers. Together with singer Mapi Quintana, the band presents an exuberant mix of jazz, folk and music from Asturias (northern Spain).

Asturian singer Mapi Quintana has lived in The Netherlands and is known here as a singer for the band Bernie’s Lounge. She recently returned to her native ground. On the one hand her music is permeated with an air of homesickness, while on the other her compositions and arrangements are informed by her fascination for jazz, which has deepened in the course of her master’s education at Amsterdam Conservatory..

‘The fantastic singer Mapi Quintana gives you goose bumps’ (Noordhollands Dagblad).

‘Sure, it’s as loud and impressive as a big band is supposed to be, but beyond that it’s a revelation to hear how serene this bunch of metal can become, how Koselleck makes use of all the dynamic possibilities of his ensemble’ (de Volkskrant).

The Bimhuis restaurant is open prior to the concert from 6.30 til 8.30PM (reservations via 020-7882158). After the concert, the Bimhuis Café is open (free entrance).
