Conductor, arranger and composer Konrad Koselleck has presented many stories about Amsterdam with his big band. For example, he wrote new works such as Bim Bam Huis, a cheerful composition about both the BIMHUIS and church bells, and Fluitend op de Fiets (Whistling on the bike) which evolved from a bike ride through Amsterdam. He arranged songs by Dutch singer Ramses Shaffy, in a slow swing version in the style of Count Basie, and hymn commemorating the plane crash in the Bijlmer district, by poet/composer Rudy Bedacht. All these stories come together in the program Amsterdam Stories en Tories. The 15th anniversary of the Konrad Koselleck Big Band is a great opportunity to record this concert at the BIMHUIS and to release it as an album.
‘Konrad’s pen makes unexpected movements, taking you to places you’ve never been, sometimes defying gravity’ (Botte Jellema, NPO Radio).
