Singer Ellen ten Damme and actor/singer/trumpet player Hans Dagelet are guests in this sneak preview of the WorldWarOne Project by the Konrad Koselleck Big Band. In 2014 it will be 100 years since the outbreak of World War I, which will be remembered all over the world.
The WorldWarOne Project, which will see its official premiere in 2014, is a theatrical concert in the style of a historical documentary. The show will feature war songs alongside poems by, among others, German/French/Jewish poet Yvan Goll and Austrian writer Ernst Jandl. Personal letters from the war will be set to music, alongside descriptions of actual accounts.
The Konrad Koselleck Big Band is something else. Time and again band leader Koselleck finds adventurous combinations of jazz, cabaret, musical, pop, rock, funk, Latin and even classical music. ‘Sure, it’s as loud and impressive as a big band is supposed to be, but beyond that it’s a revelation to hear how serene this bunch of metal can become, how Koselleck makes use of all the dynamic possibilities of his ensemble’ (de Volkskrant).
Afterwards DJ Philippona at the café.
The Bimhuis restaurant is open prior to the concert from 6.30 til 8.30PM (reservations via 020-7882158). After the concert, the Bimhuis Café is open (free entrance).
