REFLEX

Kit Downes – DR. SNAP

New audiovisual project around British rising star pianist.

REFLEX
Jazz finds roots in activism. In challenging or bypassing conventions. A conversation with the status quo. In its most free for –  improvisation – jazz is constantly searching for new forms of interaction. This quest and the conversations that are found are central to REFLEX. In the series we invite musicians to make new work that reflects on the world and its society. For REFLEX, Kit Downes presents ‘DR. SNAP’, a collaboration between the trio ENEMY, five musicians, and a visual artist.

British pianist, organist and harmonium player Kit Downes is acclaimed for his various albums on ECM Records. He has collaborated with a wide range of artists including drum and bass pioneer Squarepusher, singer-songwriter Sam Amidon, and jazz group Empirical. He has written commissions for London Contemporary Orchestra, Ensemble Klang, and many others. He’s a composer member of ENEMY, the piano trio that will be extended for this concert with, among others, Dutch jazz heroes Reinier Baas and Ben van Gelder.
