KHAIRA ARBY
DESERT BLUES FROM TIMBUKTU
(MALI)
Khaira Arby zang, Dramane Touré, M’Barka Dembele gitaar, Mohamed Ag Mohamed bas, Ahmed Ben Sidi, Mahalmadane Abbanassane, Ahmed Ben Sidi, percussie/dans/achtergrondzang
The voice of Khaira Arby is a powerful, perfectly tuned instrument that moves and transcends languages and cultures. The musicians surrounding the Malian singer mix ancient melodies and rhythms with ripping electric guitars and funky drums. ‘Desert blues’ is what they call this style of music, which is rooted in the Sahara region. ‘A Malian whose voice rings like a cry from the battlements… music that grabs and doesn’t let go’ (New York Times).
Afterwards, free admission: DJ MPS PILOT
