The American pianist kenny Werner loves playing in a trio. With Dave Holland and Jack DeJohnette he recorded the beautiful CD ‘A Delicate Balance’. With his present trio, with double bass player Johannes Weidenmueller and drummer Ari Hoenig, he delivered two treasures: ‘Form & Fantasy’ and ‘Beat Degeneration’. Nevertheless he decided not to record any studio-CDs again with his trio. Because ‘it just doesn‚t tell the story of the kind of great things that happen spontaneously on the bandstand when we have the resonance of people listening and watching’.
