Intimate, acoustic concert by Kasse Mady Diabaté, singer with a royal status in Mali. The famous kora player Ballaké Sissoko will accompany him during this rare European tour.
Singer Kasse Mady Diabaté is considered musical royalty in the West-African music world. For 50 years already his extraordinary voice has been heard with the best orchestras and groups in Mali. For this rare performance he’s accompanied by a true star cast of Malian musicians including Ballaké Sissoko, successful in Europe for his virtuoso playing on kora, the African harp. This intimate, acoustic band was formed by Ballaké and French cello player Vincent Segal, producer of Kasse Mady’s most recent album Kiriké.
At the age of 7 Kasse Mady was already predestined to become a griot, the traveling storyteller that propagates unity between the many peoples of West Africa. Kasse Mady is part of the most famous griot heritage, the Diabaté family from Kéla. 50 years on he is still a role model for musicians in Mali, among them Ballaké, who’s regarded as one of the best kora players of his generation.
