On this 6th festival, Karnatic Lab presents a surprising mix of new Karnatic music, jazz, music from the Balkans and contemporary composed music. The forward and humorous compositions of Hexnut unites styles, sounds and various techniques of contemporary classical music, jazz, metal, Indian, cartoon and sounds from the Balkans. Pianist/composer Vijay Iyer from New York is the exponent of the youngest generation or American-Indian musicians, known from his work with Steve Coleman and -recently at the Bimhuis- Wadada Leo Smith. With two New York colleague composers/musicians from the world of creative jazz he is the collective Fieldwork. A Sutrafunk dance night is an audio-visual experience with the latest cutting edge Asian Underground beats boosted by projections, video and digital animations.
