The high spirited swinging gypsy jazz of Kálmán Balogh & The Gipsy Cimbalom Band brought the Bimhuis into a state of ecstasy during the Budapest nights (November 2004). Ragtime, bluegrass, Hot Club de France, klezmer, the group of cimbalom virtuoso Balogh -he comes from an ancient line of renowned Hungarian cimbalom players- has ‘more influences than a congressman’, according to The Beat Magazine, and is ‘definitly not for the straight-laced’.
