JUBILEE OF THE DUTCH JAZZ ORCHESTRA
in collaboration with Jazz Impuls
The 25th anniversary of the Dutch Jazz Orchestra is dedicated to newly discovered music of legendary composers and arrangers Billy Strayhorn and Mary Lou Williams. The orchestra recorded four CDs with compositions by Strayhorn that were never played before. The scores were discovered by musicologist Walter van der Leur. Both Strayhorn and Williams were often overshadowed working with Duke Ellington, while both of them contributed a vital part to his oeuvre. Tonight the Bimhuis cafe-restaurant will be serving a buffet menu instead of its usual a-la-carte menu (€ 15, from 18.30). Reservations recommended: 020-7882158.
