East, west, tradition and innovation in a grandiose concert by the number one percussion sensation of Asia, in collaboration with Muziekgebouw aan ’t IJ.

The Ju Percussion Group is regarded as the number one percussion sensation of Asia. The first percussion group ever to be founded in Taiwan, it continues to create unforgettable experiences with a sensational mix of traditional and new, drama and virtuosity. In this concert the company will perform music from Chinese and Taiwanese composers, employing a large amount of traditional, modern and unexpected percussion instruments.

The Ju Percussion Group was founded in 1986 by Taiwanese percussionist Ju Tzong-Ching. In a short time he drove the group to great heights. He linked an educational institute to the ensemble with the aim of passing on traditional Taiwanese and Chinese percussion to future generations. By working with composers in residence, the Ju Percussion Group must be seen as a laboratory for a new percussion sound.
