JOSHUA REDMAN TRIO

In 1991 he won the Thelonious Monk Competition. In succession, Joshua Redman (son of Dewey Redman who passed away last year) recorded a series of albums for the major label Warner Bros. The recently released album Back East is his second recording for Nonesuch Records and his first with the acoustic trio setting, just bass and drums, which is always challenging for saxophonists. Inspired by Sonny Rollins’ trio classic Way Out West from 1957, Redman takes a new road after plugged in and groove based sessions with his Elastic Band and the octet SF Collective.
