JOSHUA REDMAN TRIO

Joshua Redman-tenor sax, soprano sax, Reuben Rogers-bass, Brian Blade-drums

Saxophone player Joshua Redman, who received the Thelonious Monk Award in 1991, continually finds new challenges. Back East is his first CD in the acoustic trio line-up of saxophone, bass and drums, inspired by the classic Sonny Rollins album Way Out West. The title is ambiguous; after a period on the American west coast as the artistic director of the SFJAZZ Collective, Redman returned to New York. Furthermore the album contains Eastern tinged tracks like ‘India’ by John Coltrane. ‘The most agile and personal record of his career’ (New York Times). BIMHUIS card holders (cards purchased from August 2008 onwards) are required to pay an € 8 surcharge.
