The bass clarinet is an important instrument for reeds player Joris Roelofs, who will perform with the most adventurous drummer in The Netherlands, Han Bennink, as part of the Dutch Clarinet Festival.
Joris Roelofs excels at alto saxophone as well as bass clarinet and is rightfully praised as ‘an excellent reeds player’ (Trouw). He has lived in New York, where he formed a trio with respected American musicians with whom he performs to this day. Alongside jazz he takes his inspiration from classical music and contemporary improvised music. As part of the Dutch Clarinet Festival he will perform with the most adventurous drummer in The Netherlands, Han Bennink, founder of the internationally renowned ICP Orchestra.

DUTCH CLARINET FESTIVAL
From 7 to 10 April a new festival, dedicated to the clarinet, will take place in Amsterdam. Top-class artists from classical, jazz, pop and world music will come together at Muziekgebouw aan ‘t IJ and Bimhuis, where they will be joined by students, amateur players and audiences alike. The result: a melting pot of clarinet enthusiasts from all over the world.
