JOOST LIJBAART GROUP OF FRIENDS

The highly esteemed drummer of (among others) Michiel Borstlap, Yuri Honing and Tony Overwater, comes to the front with his own group in which he uses an interesting but underexposed period out of the history of jazz as a source of inspiration. It is about the moderate experience of the 60’s, where elements like chord schedules, rhythms and times are being stretched without abolishing them completely. This path already led to a distinctive group sound with many original compositions. The reunion of Honing and Herman, (they didn’t play together since the Michiel Borstlap Sextet), creates a strong and exciting frontline.
