JOÃO BOSCO E GRUPO

João Bosco-guitar, vocal, Nelson Faria-guitar, Ney Conceicao-bass, Kiko Freitas-drums

Joao Bosco is a legend in the Musica Popular Brasileira. During the military dictatorship (’64-’85), his songs were censured and in 1977 his ‘O Bebado e a Equilibrista’ was the theme song of Amnesty International. Bosco became internationally known when he started touring outside the borders of Brazil in the late 80’s. He combines rock, jazz and other ethnic elements rooted in the classic samba and bossa nova tradition. With his exciting solos he welds these influences into an eclectic and unique sound that has an almost hypnotizing effect on the audience. Proof of that is found in his first Bimhuis appearance in 2003 where people were glued to their seats for two and a half hours.
