JONG VERLICHT TALENT:

AFTERWARDS AT THE CAFÉ: Jungle by Night Soundsystem

Talented young artists of the Sweelinck Academy and Junior Jazz College (Conservatorium van Amsterdam) will perform together at the Bimhuis. This concert features Oosterdok 4, Carter Muller, Lucie Horsch and many others.

In collaboration with the Amsterdam Light Festival the young curator and vocalist Tamar Guttmann has organized a concert with young musicians. A remarkable combination of classical music and jazz.

Students aged 12 to 18 of Junior Jazz College will perform music of jazz maestros including Duke Ellington, Miles Davis, Bill Evans and John Coltrane. Several of these students have formed bands, for example Oosterdok 4 (Wouter Kühne, Gideon Tazelaar, Tijs Klaassen and Floris Kappeyne). In 2012 this group received the first prize at the Prinses Christina Competition and in 2013 the band played the North Sea Jazz Festival. Other musicians performing this evening are Kick Woudstra (15, drums), Ian Cleaver (17, trumpet) and Sander Nolan (16, piano).

Tamar noticed a similar passion with students of the Sweelinck Academy. Lucie Horsch (14, recorder) won the Prinses Christina Competition in 2012 and was proclaimed Best Young Musician of The Netherlands in 2013. Carter Muller (12, piano) won the talent show of the Concertgebouw and was the runner up at the Prinses Christina Competition.

The Bimhuis restaurant is open prior to the concert from 6.30 til 8.30PM (reservations via 020-7882158). After the concert, the Bimhuis Café is open (free entrance).
