JOHN MARSHALL QUINTET Feat. FERDINAND POVEL

The American trumpet player John Marshall spent his learning years traditionally in big bands of Buddy Rich, Mel Lewis and Dizzy Gillespie, to name a few. Since 1992 he lives in Cologne and is known as one of the most important soloists of the WDR Big Band. Ferdinand Povel is one of the best known and beloved tenorists in Europe and tought saxophone to many young beboppers. Father of the Dutch bebop piano, Frans Elsen, who played with Chet Baker, Ben Webster and Woody Shaw among many others. These soloists and a fine rhythm section guarantee a stylish approach of the ‘changes’.
