JOHN HEBERT TRIO
John Hébert bas, Benoit Delbecq piano, Gerald Cleaver drums
Double bassist and composer John Hébert is one of the most in-demand bassists in contemporary New York jazz and improvised music. With his trio he presents new music based on his experiences growing up in South Louisiana.
In his current trio John Hébert plays with drummer Gerald Cleaver, equally ubiquitous in the New York scene, and French keyboard player Benoît Delbecq, known for his prepared piano techniques. Aside from piano Delbecq plays clavinet and analogue synthesizer.
This trio recorded the album Spiritual Lover, which opens with the eponymous composition by pianist Andrew Hill, in whose band Hébert has played for seven years. ‘It’s a trio of genuinely equal parts and plays music of great melodic strength’ (All About Jazz).
The Bimhuis restaurant is open prior to the concert from 6.30 til 8.30PM (reservations via 020-7882158). After the concert, the Bimhuis Café is open (free entrance).
