JOHN HÉBERT SOUNDS OF LOVE – THE MUSIC OF CHARLES MINGUS

feat. Tim Berne, Taylor Ho Bynum, Fred Hersch, Ches Smith

John Hébert bass, Fred Hersch piano, Tim Berne sax, Taylor Ho Bynum trumpet, Ches Smith drums

The richly varied New York creative music scene is reflected by the career of John Hébert. The in-demand double bassist could pick from his vast network of collaborators for his tribute to Charles Mingus, the most famous bassist/composer of all time. ‘Hébert is one of New York’s first-call bassists, boasting a reverberant tone, supple time feel and melodic sensibility (…), bedrocking the package with a solid foundation in hardcore mainstream jazz’ (Downbeat).

The Bimhuis restaurant is open prior to the concert from 6.30 til 8.30PM (reservations via 020 7882158). After the concert, the Bimhuis Jazz Café is open (free entrance).
