JOHN ESCREET TRIO WITH JOHN HÉBERT & TYSHAWN SOREY
John Escreet piano, John Hébert bass, Tyshawn Sorey drums
Pianist John Escreet has been universally acclaimed for his breathtaking and continually ear-catching compositions. The British born improviser is part of the blossoming alternative jazz scene of Brooklyn, where he has hired some of the greatest talents. For this concert he has engaged Tyshawn Sorey, who brought the Bimhuis audience to its knees with one powerful blow while drumming with Steve Lehman. ‘Cruising through different languages, straight-ahead and free and in between; it’s like a tour of the last 25 years of serious jazz’ (New York Times).
