A life dedicated to music: this is why John Engels still has flexibility on the drums and an intuitive feel for what every song needs. The legendary player celebrates his 90^th birthday with one continuous concert full of festive surprises.

John Engels has been known for decades as one of the most swinging jazz drummers in The Netherlands. He shared the stage with Chet Baker, Stan Getz, Ray Brown, Hank Jones, and many others. For this birthday concert he will form a trio together with trumpeter Jan van Duikeren and double bassist Tobias Nijboer with special guests, such as vocalist Francien van Tuinen and pianist Juraj Stanik.
