JOEL HARRISON STRING CHOIR – THE MUSIC OF PAUL MOTIAN

Joel Harrison gitaar, Christian Howes, Sam Bardfeld viool, Mat Maneri altviool, Hank Roberts cello

In the past, guitarist Joel Harrison combined steel guitar with Indian lute and banjo with African kora, and made Norah Jones sing a Johnny Cash song. Now he surprises his listeners once again by performing the music of drummer Paul Motian in an almost classical way, in an ensemble with string instruments only. With this project he honors the composer Motian, as well as Motian’s trio with guitarist Bill Frisell, who flirted with American roots music in his arrangements.
