JOCHEN RUECKERT QUARTET feat. MARK TURNER
Mark Turner tenorsax, Lage Lund gitaar, Matt Penman bas, Jochen Rueckert drums
Since he moved from Cologne to New York 15 years ago, drummer Jochen Rueckert has been inseparable from double bassist Matt Penman. They have collaborated with several famous jazz guitarists, including Pat Metheny and Kurt Rosenwinkel. Aside from guitarist Lage Lund, it’s saxophonist Mark Turner who plays a star role in Rueckert’s quartet. The subtle, rhythmically layered compositions by the band leader are interchanged with songs by Herbie Hancock and Depeche Mode. ‘You can sense the intense simpatico and conviction among the four New Yorkers’ (The Telegraph).
The Bimhuis restaurant is open prior to the concert from 6.30 til 8.30PM (reservations via 020-7882158). After the concert, the Bimhuis Café is open (free entrance).
