JOC – Jazz Factory

Visit the delivery room of a first class jazz orchestra and be ready to get surprised by fascinating sounds and new approaches of big band jazz.
The Jazz Orchestra of the Concertgebouw led by Rob Horsting presents a program full of music that was written for the orchestra recently. In the series JOC Jazz Factory you will hear new compositions by band members and by composers and jazz musicians who regularly collaborate with the orchestra.

The Jazz Orchestra of the Concertgebouw has had a regular (bi-)monthly concert night at the BIMHUIS for almost 17 years. In concerts featuring diverse soloists, from Misha Mengelberg to Chris Potter and from Wolter Wierbos to Tom Harrell, the orchestra has developed into a mainstay in the jazz program of the Concertgebouw and became headliner at many international venues and festivals. In 2010 it won the Edison for the album Blues for the Date, which was voted best ‘large ensemble album’ of that year by All About Jazz. The orchestra has collaborated with jazz greats such as Chick Corea, Branford Marsalis, Toots Thielemans, Roy Hargrove, Christian Scott and José James.
