JEROEN VAN VLIET’S SIKEDA

Jeroen van Vliet piano/compositions, Erwin Vann tenor saxophone, Afra Mussawisade percussion/sampling, Jörg Brinkmann cello, Frans van der Hoeven bass, Pascal Vermeer drums

Sikeda, the new band formed by piano player Jeroen van Vliet, is all about timbre, tonality and surprising combinations of instruments, such as cello with tenor saxophone and electronics. Van Vliet is regarded in the Dutch press as ‘one of the most lyrical piano players in The Netherlands’ (de Volkskrant) and ‘master of nuance’ (Trouw). For years he was a member of Paul van Kemenade Quartet and he plays Fender Rhodes in Gatecrash, led by Eric Vloeimans. Sikeda originated from compositions commissioned by North Sea Jazz Festival.
