For Art of the In-Between, Jeffrey Bruinsma investigates the possibility of leaving your past behind and starting from scratch, like a painter on an empty canvas. During the compositional process he became fascinated with the music of Alice Coltrane, the movie Taxi Driver, poems by Rumi, fashion designs by Rei Kawakubo, and Japanese gin. This led to a series of compositions full of unexpected twists and turns. Intuitive, spacious, and mesmerizing.

The Art of the In-Between is a collaboration with guitarist Jesse van Ruller, bassist Thomas Pol, and drummer Jamie Peet. In recent years, Jeffrey Bruinsma performed regularly with the Zapp4 string quartet and the Franz von Chossy Quintet. Since its foundation in 2017 he has been part of Pynarello, as a violinist, composer and arranger. He played international venues and festivals with, among others, Jan Bang, Arve Henriksen, Chris Potter, Ane Brun, and Marc Ribot.
