Jeff Ballard, Miguel Zenón and Lionel Loueke are each among the world’s best in contemporary jazz. In 2010 and 2011 they already played together at the Bimhuis and now we can finally welcome the trio’s debut album Time’s Tales, a collection of challenging songs, grooves and improvisations.
Band leader Jeff Ballard is Brad Mehldau’s drummer of choice and plays in the band Fly. Guitarist Lionel Loueke accompanies Herbie Hancock and has released three solo albums on Blue Note. Saxophonist Miguel Zenón is in high demand and has topped the Downbeat Critics Polls four times in the ‘Rising Star’ category.
Each bring their own personal tastes and geographical backgrounds (USA, Benin, Puerto Rico). The result is music of an unprecedented rhythmical wealth, with influences ranging from Afro-funk to Iranian folk, from Bartók to Stevie Wonder and from Gershwin to Queens of the Stone Age.

The Bimhuis restaurant is open prior to the concert from 6.30 til 8.30PM (reservations via 020-7882158). After the concert, the Bimhuis Café is open (free entrance).
