Pianist and ‘wonderboy of Flemish jazz’ (De Tijd) Jef Neve also enjoys international acclaim. On his new album Sons of the New World his trio is augmented with five brass players. The music both reflects on the world wide crisis while radiating hope at the same time. Neve’s classical background comes to the fore in his compositions, as does his love for rhythmic, repetitive patterns that are expanded by drummer Teun Verbruggen and double bassist Sean Fasciani (Yuri Honing Acoustic Quartet). ‘Neve emerges as a pianist par excellence’ (The Guardian).
