JAZZ ORCHESTRA OF THE CONCERTGEBOUW & YURI HONING
led by Henk Meutgeert
‘The best, most versatile and swinging big band in The Netherlands’ (AD), the Jazz Orchestra of the Concertgebouw, welcomes saxophone player Yuri Honing, winner of the VPRO/Boy Edgar Prize 2012. For Honing jazz is a language open to influences from all genres, from pop and dance to Arab music. As an internationally renowned composer he’s on par with his contemporaries Eric Vloeimans, Michiel Borstlap en Benjamin Herman. ‘From note one you know that saxophonist Honing has ‘got it’ and that tone can cut through your soul’ (The Independent).
Bimhuis Restaurant opens at 18:30. After the concert, the Bimhuis Café is open (free entrance).
