Jazz Orchestra of the Concertgebouw Ft. Teus Nobel: The Jazz Influencers

Leading trumpeter of Dutch jazz enters collaboration with ‘most versatile big band in the Netherlands’ (AD).

No new jazz without a new generation. That is why the Jazz Orchestra of the Concertgebouw gives space to young Dutch ‘Jazz Influencers’, with this edition leading trumpeter Teus Nobel. He is one of the most productive musicians of the moment and over the past five years no less than six albums have followed each other in rapid succession. Nevertheless, he continues to ‘surprise with his versatility,’ according to de Volkskrant. Nobel also worked with the JOC before; in 2018 he was guest soloist for the Miles Davis tribute which was performed in a sold-out Concertgebouw. With great pleasure he will now perform his own repertoire, composed especially for this concert, with this big band.

The Jazz Orchestra of the Concertgebouw is at the absolute top of the big bands in Europe. The orchestra won several Edison Awards and has performed with world class soloists such as Chick Corea, Dr. Lonnie Smith, and Joshua Redman. In 2020, nine young jazz artists were commissioned to write compositions for the big band. This resulted in the album The Jazz Influencers, and the eponymous concert series.
