JAZZ ORCHESTRA OF THE CONCERTGEBOUW & JESSE VAN RULLER

i.c.w. NPS Radio

The Jazz Orchestra of the Concertgebouw (JOC) will be recording the second in its series of live CD’s called ‘Dutch Series’. The first CD featured ‘Riffs & Rhythms’, work written by the orchestra leader Henk Meutgeert, the second one featuring the internationally renowned Dutch guitarist Jesse van Ruller. He has been touring with his own trios and duos (with guitarist Marchen van der Grinten and pianist Bert van den Brink, respectively) and more recently with groups such as Mona Lisa Overdrive and the Jasper Blom Quartet. Van Ruller has been a member of the JOC ever since its founding eleven years ago, and his own arrangements and compositions regularly land on the orchestra’s music stands. Johan Plomp and orchestra leader Meutgeert made arrangements of new material especially for this CD. Tonight the Bimhuis café-restaurant will be serving a buffet menu instead of its usual à-la-carte menu (€ 15, from 19 hours). Reservations recommended: 020-7882158.
