JAZZ ORCHESTRA OF THE CONCERTGEBOUW & FLORIN NICULESCU – GYPSY JAZZ

Fans of gypsy jazz acknowledge violin player Florin Niculescu as a successor to Stephane Grappelli. Since the 1930s Grappelli and guitarist Django Reinhardt have inspired generations of musicians with their exciting and affecting mixture of jazz and Rumanian folk music. Niculescu plays with performers of authentic gypsy jazz like Bireli Lagrene, but also with popular French singers like Francoise Hardy and Charles Aznavour. ‘A remarkable musician, precise, agile and dynamic’ (Le Monde).
