JAZZ ORCHESTRA OF THE CONCERTGEBOUW & DICK OATTS

LED BY HENK MEUTGEERT
TOGETHER WITH STUDENTS OF THE CONSERVATORY OF AMSTERDAM

Students and Alumni of the Jazzdepartment of the Conservatory of Amsterdam were invited to arrange one piece for this prestigious big band. A jury headed by Henk Meutgeert selected a couple of pieces and the JOC will perform the chosen arrangements this evening.

‘The best, most versatile and swinging big band in The Netherlands’ (AD), the Jazz Orchestra of the Concertgebouw, starts a new season full of collaborations with strong soloists, beginning with saxophonist Dick Oatts. Because of his prominent alto sound and his imaginative solos he has been in demand everywhere for 35 years, with the best big bands, in smaller line-ups with famous soloists and as an accompanist for pop and jazz vocalists, from Sarah Vaughan and Ella Fitzgerald to Luther Vandross and James Taylor.
