JAZZ ORCHESTRA OF THE CONCERTGEBOUW

in collaboration with NPS Radio

Dennis Mackrel has an impeccable reputation as a big band drummer and arranger. At a young age he was appointed by Mel Lewis as his successor in the leading Vanguard Jazz Orchestra. After that Mackrel played with the Count Basie Orchestra, Carla Bley Very Large Band and in the jazz orchestra of Maria Schneider on the Grammy-winning album Evanescence. The Jazz Orchestra of the Concertgebouw will mainly play Mackrel’s arrangements. He will lead the orchestra together with its regular conductor Henk Meutgeert. Tonight the Bimhuis cafe-restaurant will be serving a buffet menu instead of its usual a-la-carte menu (euro 15, from 18.30h). Reservations recommended: 020-7882158.
