The newest great jazz trio’, this is Bandwagon according to the New York Times. The bass player and drummer communicate through telepathy with each other and with the pianist that connects James P. Johnson with Cecil Taylor, like once his own teacher Jaki Byard did. On his new CD, Same Mother, he digs deep into the blues, with the raw and rough guitar playing of Marvin Sewell as an additional voice.
