Funky 21st century update of unbreakable dance music by a New York supergroup led by jazz figurehead Jason Moran, with among others drummer Charles Haynes (Kanye West, Lady Gaga).

Singer and pianist Fats Waller was the forerunner of today’s pop stars, rappers and DJs, an entertainer who kept the club jumping with his irresistible dance music. How would he have sounded in the 21st century? The super group Fats Waller Dance Party from New York gives the answer with a mix of funk, hip-hop and dance, featuring fragments of timeless Fats Waller songs such as Ain’t Misbehavin’ and This Joint is Jumpin’.

Behind the piano, and behind a large Fats Waller mask, is Jason Moran, figurehead of the current jazz generation, a composer and performer who takes risks and is open to contemporary influences. Alongside Fats Waller his oeuvre bares traces of Thelonious Monk, Jimi Hendrix and hip-hop producer J Dilla, alongside influences from comedy and visual art. In Fats Waller Dance Party he collaborates with Charles Haynes, drummer with among others Kanye West and Lady Gaga.
