JANE BUNNET & THE SPIRITS OF HAVANA
Jane Bunnett-soprano saxophone, flute, Larry Cramer-trumpet, flugelhorn, David Virelles-piano, Francisco Mela-drums, Petar Slavo-bass, Alberto Alberto-congas, vocals
The Canadian soprano saxophonist got hooked on jazz through the influence of Charles Mingus and Roland Kirk. She studied with Steve Lacey and played with Don Pullen and Dewey Redman, to name a few. Since the 80’s she uses this strong foundation to live out her passion for Cuban music, inspired by lessons from the masters. Latin jazz that offers ardour and excitement next to profundity and individuality.
