Jaimie Branch challenges listeners to open their minds to music that knows no genre, no gender and no limits. The New York-based trumpeter was classically trained, but she lets go of all the rules in her band Fly or Die. Her gripping playing and vocals are at the heart of adventurous jazz with strong grooves and beats.
In Fly or Die, Jaimie Branch plays with well-known jazz musicians from Chicago, where she was part of the open-minded music scene for years. Jaimie Branch played in very different settings, from improvisation with William Parker and Matana Roberts to indie rock with bands such as Spoon and TV on the Radio. With Fly or Die she has released three albums on the influential label International Anthem.
